Yorkshire skipper Dom Bess won the toss and elected to bowl on a hard track tinged with green. The White Rose made two changes, Jafer Chohan returning after warming the bench at Welsh Fire, and Jack white replacing Ben Coad. For the visitors, Matthew Montgomery made way for Luis Reece.
George Hill and Ben Coad started brightly, operating on a full length. Derbyshire’s opening pair of captain Harry Came and Martin Andersson looked far from comfortable but escaped the first powerplay at 38-0.
