Otley reinforce Aire-Wharfe championship challenge

Otley underlined their championship credentials with a commanding 115-run victory over Bilton at Cross Green. Alex Atkinson (74) and George Huntley (54) provided the perfect platform for the hosts, with skipper Josh Atkinson also contributing 34. A middle order slump from 141-1 to 177-5 gave way to an assault from Charlie Parker who smashed an unbeaten 78 from just 34 balls, including thirteen 4s and two 6s, to propel Otley to an imposing 283-7. Bilton's reply never recovered after Parker ripped through the top order, taking four wickets with only 33 runs on the board. Rob Tayloe (34) and Jamie Bryant (39 not out) battled gamely while Sam Dale added 32 late on, but Parker finished with figures of 5-48 and Mohamed Imthiyas Slaza matched him in the wickets column with 5-72 as Bilton were dismissed for 168.

Second-placed Saltaire kept themselves firmly in contention with a dominant 70-run victory over Hall Park at Roberts Park. Ihsan Ihsanullah starred with the bat, compiling an excellent 75 from 86 balls after Khalil Ullah Khan had made 43, helping Saltaire recover from 41-3 to post 190. Charles Greatbatch (3-39) and Jacob Phillips (3-28) were the main threats with the ball for the visitors. After the tea break, Arsaam Malik got Hall Park off to a quick start with 45 from 44 balls, but when he was dismissed with the score on 69-3, Saltaire's bowling took over as Khalil Ullah Khan claimed 3-12 from eight outstanding overs, Muhammad Tariq took 3-18 and Sandeep Singh and Ihsan Ihsanullah each picked up two wickets as Hall Park were bowled out for just 120.

Steeton consolidated fourth place with an emphatic 87-run success at Arthington Lane. After early setbacks, Stephen Pearson produced one of the innings of the weekend, batting through for a magnificent 91 from 127 deliveries. Luke Chapman provided excellent support with 61 as the pair added 149 for the fifth wicket to lift Steeton to 226-6; Freddie Padgett also contributed a useful 32. Sam Lawrence took an expensive three wickets for the hosts. An opening standing of 46 between Sydney Wood (30) and Daniel Groom (25) gave Pool a solid start, but a collapse from 80-2 to 139 all out then occurred as Tremaine Dowrich produced a superb spell of 3-28, while Stephen Pearson completed an good all-round performance with 2-32 and Paul Quinlan added 2-36 alongside 2-13 from Max Harrison.

At Esholt Lane, Burley produced a strong batting display to defeat Tong Park Esholt by 81 runs. Jason Wright led the way with 73 before Nicky Bulcock (70 not out) and Alex Heslop (74 not out) shared an unbroken century partnership to carry Burley to an imposing 308-6. Jarrod Parsons took 3-58 for the hosts. Tong Park Esholt responded positively through another excellent innings from Dave Hester, who struck 82, while Gareth Wilkinson added 61 from the Number 6 slot. However, Daniel Revis proved decisive with the ball, returning 4-57, supported by Harry Watson (2-48) as Tong Park were dismissed for 227.

At Harewood Road, Collingham inflicted a heavy defeat on Waddilove Cup finalists Addingham. Daniel Kilby top-scored with 39 Edward Hayhurst added 36 and Aidan Plaatjies compiled 28 as Collingham reached 192 despite three wickets apiece for the trio of Ricky Palacio (3-30), Ronan Brink (3-31) and Henry Barrow (3-53). Addingham's chase never gathered momentum as Alasdair Sadler produced a magnificent return of 5-31, while Toby Jacklin claimed 3-32 and Az Weerasinghe took 2-26. Palacio's 26 was the visitors' highest score as they were bowled out for 112, handing Collingham a convincing 80-run victory.

At Kirkstall, the home side continued their recent revival with a comfortable 8-wicket victory over North Leeds. Harry Tariq delivered the standout bowling performance of the weekend with outstanding figures of 6-24, while Mohammad Ibrahim claimed 4-35 as North Leeds were dismissed for 133 following a promising opening partnership of 67 between Archie Ralphs (31) and Rohan Ratnalingam (30). Kirkstall completed the chase with ease thanks to Stuart Lister's 38, Dylan Duraisingham's 42 and unbeaten scores of 26 and 21 from Tariq and Warrick Rhode.

Otley lead the Premier Division on 228 points, 15 ahead of Saltaire, with Bilton slipping back a little on 184 points. Steeton remain firmly in the top half of the able on 183 points in fourth place. At the bottom, Pool are beginning to look adrift on 109 points, with Kirkstall second from bottom on 129 points, only 12 points behind North Leeds who are in 8th place as the battle to remain in the Premier Division starts to hot up.
