At first glance, it appears that Imam-ul-Haq’s runs will be sorely missed by Yorkshire as they attempt to go one better than last year’s semi-final place or even win a white ball trophy for the first time since 2002.
There was nothing wrong with the Tykes’ effort in both the mizzle and then the sunshine of Scarborough but they began their 2026 campaign by coming up short against the team who knocked them out a little under 12 months ago.
And there were no real excuses for them at North Marine Road, having won the toss and elected to bowl before batting in, for the most part, glorious sunshine and on a good pitch when chasing.
