We’d all hoped that the win against Somerset would be the start of an upturn in on-field fortunes. You and I both probably felt that the excellent first session against Warwickshire was confirmation of that. And then… back to that chicken and egg bit… and this is where it gets quite tricky.
If I say ‘the bowlers underperformed in the Warwickshire second innings’ I think that’s a fair comment, but it wasn’t all of them, nor has it been in any of the matches so far. However, in each match, the team has had a couple of weaker links and, unfortunately, they’ve not just gone at four and a half runs per over, it’s been more like six or seven.
