The expansion of the women’s game continues at pace. We’re seeing this at international level, with a 12-team World Cup for the first time this summer and, for the first time last year, we saw a two-tier domestic structure in England and Wales.

The coming season sees expanded Vitality Blast Women and Metro Bank One Day Cup competitions and the experienced leader is relishing the prospect of more game time.

Speaking from South Africa on a live link-up at the Yorkshire CCC pre-season lunch, she spoke of wintering in Australia and said: “It actually always makes me appreciate coming back and the volume of cricket that we get to play in England in terms of just that chance to compete frequently.
