Yorkshire in control but Bears still pawing away

Yorkshire set Warwickshire an unlikely victory target of 453 during the latter stages of an entertaining third day at Scarborough as they push for a Rothesay County Championship victory.

Yorkshire 469 all out and 246-6d v Warwickshire 263 all out and 44-1, Rothesay County Championship, Division One, Day Three. Warwickshire are chasing 453 for victory. 

Warwickshire started the day on 225 for seven in their first-innings reply to 469, with captain Ed Barnard impressing for a composed unbeaten 83. New-ball pair Hassan Ali and Jack White finished with three wickets apiece.

Jonny Bairstow opted against enforcing the follow-on with a lead of 206 late in the morning before following Will Luxton and sixth-wicket partner George Hill to half-centuries.

Bairstow’s 62 represented his second fifty in the match, while Luxton contributed 69 and Hill 65 not out in 246 for six declared, leaving the Bears with 15 overs to bat before close. They reached 44 for one.
