New Farnley turned up the heat in the Premier Division title race with a scorching batting display which matched the soaring temperatures.

The champions hit the season’s highest top-flight score of 399-4 as they defeated Farsley by 174 runs to climb into second place.

New Farnley’s innings was dominated by a third wicket stand of 252 between Steve Bullen and Ryan McKendry.

Bullen passed 500 league runs for the season as he made 145 from 122 deliveries. His second century of the season featured nine sixes and eight fours.
