Collegiate remain unbeaten: Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League Week 3 Round-up

Sheffield Collegiate are now the only unbeaten side in the division, but they had to work hard for a 15-run win over Cawthorne at Abbeydale. Abdul Faseeh (56) led them to 211-8 after they were put in to bat, and they restricted their visitors to 196-9 in reply, despite skipper Archie Greaves’ 76. Opener James Moorhouse (53) top-scored in Whitley Hall’s 217-7 against Doncaster Town after they chose to bat first at the Spinks ground. The hosts were 64-4 in reply, then Harsha Rajapaksha (50) and James Ward (51) then added 93 for the fifth wicket to put their side in a strong position, but the last six wickets then fell for 33, Dan Waldron taking 4-63, and Town slipped to their first defeat of the season. Wakefield Thornes made a good start with an opening stand of 80 after they had chosen to bat first against Tickhill at the Brookfield Oval. Connor Fisher (5-47) then caused a collapse to 140-8, before the lower order rallied the visitors to 218 -9. Tickhill lost wickets regularly in reply, and only Bilal Anjam, with an unbeaten 60, showed prolonged resistance against a varied attack. Cleethorpes asked Wickersley Old Village to bat first at the Beerpig Oval and had half the home side out for 80, Josh Knapton taking 4-59, before Hamzah Younis (68) helped Wickersley up to a competitive 244 all out. When the visitors replied, Tom Keast (75) held the upper order together and David Mansfield (54) then saw them to within reach of their three-wicket win. Joe Toole (105 off 138 balls) and Parteek Khasa (59) put on 122 for Sprotbrough’s fourth wicket in their 225-5 after electing to bat first against Appleby Frodingham at Brumby Hall. Skipper Alex Grimes (110 not out off 117 balls) then led his side to a six-wicket win, sharing in a fourth wicket stand of 114 with Kieran Lindley (66). Andre Bradford (100 off 134 balls) and Richard Perkins (52) put on 136 for Hallam’s second wicket in their 275-6 against Whiston Parish Church after they chose to bat first at Crimicar. The visitors were then all out for 206 in reply, Mark Cummins contributing 62.
